What We Do
What will you work on in Spark SC? We work in committees to launch and run initiatives that impact the USC community and beyond. Most members participate in multiple committees. Here are some of the committees you could work on:
Startup Career Fair
A flagship event every semester, the Spark SC Startup Career Fair brings out top LA startups to connect with students seeking full-time jobs and internships. Work on outreach and logistics to help strengthen USC’s connection with startups in Los Angeles.
State of the Arts
State of the Arts is an art fair that exists at the confluence of art, food, fashion, entertainment and entrepreneurship. Build relationships with exhibitors, speakers, and community members, plan logistics, and work on marketing for this one-of-a-kind event.
Make an impact in the USC coding and hacking community by joining USC Hackers. Throw monthly Hack Nights and large-scale events that lower the barriers of entry to hacking and bring the community together.
Design and manage a social entrepreneurship project, collaborate with nonprofits, and give back to the surrounding LA community. Project Launch helps underserved high school students build the hard skills, soft skills, and growth mindset they will need as leaders of the next generation.
Help connect students with paid internships in Los Angeles through the TechLA Fellows program. Build the TechLA brand, familiarize yourself with LA companies and recruiters, and be the interface between USC and the LA startup community.
Spark XM, the Spark SC Podcast, highlights outstanding faculty, alumni, and student entrepreneurs in entertaining 20 minute long episodes. Help us plan, record, and produce great audio content that gets published to iTunes and other channels.
This is your opportunity to get connected to the growing entrepreneurial scene in Los Angeles. Help organize trips to local companies and get a look at the best of LA technology, design, and more—reach out to founders, build relationships with companies, and set up field trips to companies for students.
Work to help budding startups at USC take their first steps in developing a product. Meet in-person with teams on a monthly basis to discuss application development, graphic design, user testing, and more.
Spark SC hosts events that bring hundreds of students together and promote a culture of entrepreneurship at USC. Help us capture the excitement at our events in photos, videos, and other media for distribution to the community.
Design and spread Spark SC’s vision. Create marketing campaigns and promotions so that the whole campus can see what we’re up to and get involved. See your work showcased on bulletins and event pages from Cafe 84 to Fertitta Hall.
