Frequently Asked Questions

How can I get involved with Spark, apart from being on the board?

Attend our staple events like Break to Make and the Startup Career Fair, pitch an idea at our annual pitching event 1000 Pitches, and keep an eye out for events hosted by our other committees with our newsletter!

Where and when can I apply?

The applications are currently closed! We accept new members during the beginning of every semester, so stay tuned during the first few weeks of next semester for involvement fairs, info sessions, and the application itself!

What is the application process?

The application is three rounds:

  • The written application
  • An individual interview
  • A team-based group interview

Applicants will be notified of their application status after every round. Shortly after the group interview, we will welcome our new members. The application process takes about a week, from the written application due date to final decisions.

Could you please share this event / job posting / other thing with the entrepreneurship community?

Of course! Go to our Founders Facebook page and drop the information in there.

I’m part of a start-up! Could you help us with development / mentorship / funding?

We recommend the Blackstone Launchpad for help on your startup, as they can provide a lot of advice and resources to get you going. For development or marketing, here is a list of Facebook groups in which you could post, asking members of the USC community to help out with your product:

  • Founders, our Facebook group for the USC entrepreneurial community
  • Potentially Appropriate School Groups: Roski, Marshall, Annenberg, Viterbi, School of Cinematic Arts
  • Any of the “Class of [Year]” groups!

For mentorship, you could post in the same Facebook groups above or find help at one of our On-Campus Events, like Hack Nights! If neither of those are exactly what you’re looking for, shoot us a specific message and we’ll try to redirect you as best we can.

For funding, check out Incubate USC.

Is Spark SC a computer science club?

No! We do much more than just coding and hacking.

Is Spark SC an accelerator or incubator?

No. If you'd like to build a product with a team, consider joining LavaLab.

What if I have a different question?

Great! Shoot us an email at, and we’ll get back to you ASAP.
