How to Take Notes
**Discuss this with your fellow interviewer before you bring in the candidate
There are two methods (usually) people pick between to handle note taking:
- 1 interviewer takes notes the entire time and 1 interviewer asks all the questions
- The interviewers switch off between asking questions and taking notes (1 person asks the question and then for the next question they take notes)
Things to Keep in Mind While Note Taking
- Write what they say/do, not how you feel about what they say.
- Remember that people who were not at the interview will be referring to your notes during 1st round and 2nd round deliberations so it is important that they are able to use that and come to their own conclusions about those actions instead of just reading what you thought about their actions without knowing what those actions were.
- Err on the side of thorough than brief and concise
- The interview will go by fast, so don't be concerned about grammar and punctuation and cleaning up your notes. Try to capture as much of the interview in your notes as you experienced.
