Hey there! If this is your first time doing second round interviews I'm going to break this down into two parts. First, the process of how the nights going to go and second, how we're going to be taking notes.
Structure of the interviews
- We'll have a table for the interviewees in the center of the room and hand each of them this second round prompt.
- Fun question! ~ (3 min)
- name, major, year - applicants
- to be clear, this has no effect on whether you get in
- If you could domesticate any animal, what animal would you want to have a pet, no context or explanation?
- Actual interview
- Explanation of activity ~ (3min) - a core team meber
- You are part of a team that is responsible for putting together your own committee and constructing a feasible plan to execute your ideas for a new committee. We’d like you to launch your idea in the next two months – in the next 45 minutes, you will be responsible for planning and executing it.
- Brainstorm on your own ~ (5min)
- Giving them time to jot down ideas on the back of their page
- Work with team ~ (30 min)
- Give them the space to talk with each other, but a core team member can intervene when the situation calls for it
- ie. a candidate has been trying to speak for a bit and gets cut off
- Presentation ~ (10 min)
- Q/A ~ (5 min)
- 15 min break until next group
How to take notes
We are grading on these two criteria as defined by the rubric.
- Meaningful Contributions
- Candidate contributes meaningful and creative ideas to the group. This metric is more individual, focusing on the quality of contribution that the candidate gives.
- Collaboration and Support
- Candidate facilitates teamwork between group members and supports a collaborative environment within group. This metric is more social, focusing on the candidate’s teamwork skills.
